Hot Tub Cadillac Goes Viral

Published

on

In a whimsical fusion of automotive engineering and hydrotherapy, two ingenious individuals have taken the concept of carpooling to an entirely new level. Duncan Forster and Phil Weicker, a dynamic duo of engineers, accomplished the extraordinary feat of transforming a vintage Cadillac DeVille into a fully operational hot tub on wheels. This audacious creation, aptly named the “Carpool DeVille,” defies convention and invites passengers to soak in the warm waters while the world passes by.

Forster and Weicker’s unconventional journey began during their undergraduate days at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. Fuelled by their shared passion for innovation, they undertook the ambitious project of converting an abandoned 1982 Chevy Malibu into a mobile pool. Although the Malibu’s appearance left much to be desired, the young visionaries reveled in their accomplishment.

Fast forward twelve years, and now residing in Los Angeles, the duo decided to push their boundaries further. They acquired a remarkable 1969 Cadillac DeVille, envisioning an even grander endeavor: to create the world’s fastest hot tub. Inspired and determined, Forster and Weicker set out to make their whimsical dream a reality.

Their aspirations received a significant boost through a successful Kickstarter campaign, which provided the means to embark on an adventure to Utah’s renowned Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week 2014. Eagerly towing their mobile aquatic wonder, the Carpool DeVille, destiny had an unexpected twist in store. A flooded racetrack dashed their hopes of claiming an official record, leaving them yearning for another opportunity to prove their audacity.

Undeterred by this setback, Weicker took matters into his own hands. The excess weight in the rear axle propelled the vehicle with such force that a pursuing Dodge Ram chase vehicle struggled to keep up. Thrilling yet slightly nerve-wracking, a small bump on the road triggered exhilarating side-to-side oscillations. Weicker recalls, “It was a mix of excitement and terror, a ride like no other.”

The metamorphosis of the Carpool DeVille was a meticulous process that fused engineering prowess with creative ingenuity. The interior of the vehicle underwent a complete transformation, with Forster and Weicker stripping it down to its core. The steel frame was meticulously reinforced to support the added weight of the water, while the original shock-absorbing springs were replaced with airbags, creating a custom air suspension system.

Crafting the tub itself required great craftsmanship. Using plywood and fiberboard, the pair skillfully fashioned a mold of the car’s interior. Layers of fiberglass, coated with gel, were then meticulously applied to create a watertight seal. Drawing heat from the engine, a clever heat exchanger warmed the water, ensuring a blissful bathing experience.

Preserving the aesthetic allure of the classic Cadillac was of paramount importance to Forster and Weicker. Waterproofing the car’s interior became a meticulous task, demanding the application of marine-grade silicone caulk to seal the edges of the fiberglass tub and the customized dashboard.

With their indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication, Forster and Weicker have not only redefined the concept of a “carpool” but also captivated the world with their audacious creation. The Carpool DeVille stands as a testament to human ingenuity, offering a surreal and unforgettable experience for those brave enough to indulge in its aquatic delights.

'Friends' Star Matthew Perry Dies From Apparent Drowning in Hot Tub

The world was left in shock as news of the sudden and tragic passing of Matthew Perry, beloved for his portrayal of Chandler Bing in the iconic TV series “Friends,” broke. Perry, who was 54 years old, was found dead at his Los Angeles residence, leaving many in disbelief.

Authorities responded to his home at around 4 p.m., where Perry was discovered lifeless in a hot tub. Although an investigation is currently underway, anonymous law enforcement sources have refrained from specifying an official cause of death. While no illicit substances were found at the scene, prescription medications were reportedly discovered in Perry’s home, necessitating toxicology assessments.

As of the time of this report, there has been no statement or response from a representative of Matthew Perry. Los Angeles Police Capt. Scot Williams, who heads the Robbery Homicide Division overseeing the investigation, has stated that foul play is not currently suspected. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has postponed its determination of the cause of death, suggesting that it may remain unknown for some time.

Matthew Perry’s untimely passing has sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment world, with Warner Bros. Television Group, the production company behind “Friends,” expressing their profound sorrow. Perry is remembered as an incredibly talented actor who left an enduring impact on the Warner Bros. Television Group family and audiences worldwide.

NBC, the network that aired “Friends” for all ten seasons, joined in the collective mourning, lauding Perry’s impeccable comedic timing and witty humor. They expressed their belief that his legacy would continue to bring joy to countless generations.

On Saturday night, Perry’s body was carefully moved from his Pacific Palisades home into a coroner’s van. Reports suggest that he may have tragically drowned in the hot tub, possibly after experiencing a cardiac arrest. Perry’s assistant reportedly made the emergency call.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a possible “water rescue” call at 4:07 p.m. When they arrived, Perry was found unresponsive. Authorities cordoned off the residence and set up a white tent near the hot tub and pool area in Perry’s backyard. Photographs captured Perry’s parents, Suzanne Perry and John Bennett Perry, at the scene, along with Suzanne’s husband, Keith Morrison of “Dateline.”

It is worth noting that accidents related to hot tubs, such as drowning, are more common than many realize. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that over 300 people lose their lives annually in hot tub-related incidents. Children, especially those under 5, make up a significant portion of these tragic events.

While the details surrounding Perry’s passing are still emerging, additional information indicates that he had been active earlier on the day of his death. Sources suggest that he had played pickleball for two hours in the morning and sent his assistant on an errand. Upon the assistant’s return, Perry was found unresponsive, leading to an immediate call to 911.

Perry’s well-documented battle with substance abuse was openly shared in his 2022 memoir. Despite facing numerous challenges, he had a strong desire to support others in their own struggles with addiction, even establishing a sober men’s facility in Southern California.

Law enforcement has not raised suspicions of foul play or unusual circumstances in his passing. However, it may take several weeks for an official cause of death to be determined as investigations continue.

Hot Tub Repair Man Accused Of Burglary

Hot Tub Repair Man Accused Of Burglary

During a ski trip in Georgia, a group of friends encountered an unfortunate incident involving a hot tub repairman. After completing the job, the friends invited the repairman in for a beer. However, the following day, the repairman allegedly broke into their apartment and made off with personal items valued at nearly $20,000.

The tenants reported the incident to the Steamboat Springs Police Department on March 16. According to the arrest affidavit, the renters had contacted Vacasa rental regarding a broken hot tub in their rental property. Christopher Svenson, a contractor hired through Vacasa, responded to the request. One of the renters had a conversation with Svenson while he was repairing the hot tub and extended an invitation to join them for a drink.

The next day, the three renters left the premises to go skiing. Upon returning at noon, one of the renters discovered that the door was unlocked. They reported several stolen items, including a Rolex watch worth $18,000, Bose headphones worth $329, a Dell laptop worth $848, Adidas sneakers worth $160, and an $80 laptop case. Additionally, one of the renters reported the theft of an American Express credit card, while another stated that $1,200 in cash was missing from their laptop case.

The renter whose credit card was allegedly stolen received notifications of its usage in multiple locations around Steamboat, starting at 12:10 p.m. on March 16, just ten minutes after one of the renters returned to find the unlocked door.

According to the affidavit, Svenson had only been employed by the rental company for five days, as confirmed by the property manager. The property manager informed the police that Svenson had access to the garage but did not possess keys to enter the residence.

On the morning of March 16 at 9:15 a.m., Svenson reportedly expressed feeling belittled by the tenants to the property manager and promptly quit before leaving the office. However, despite quitting, Svenson was allegedly seen at the rental property by a maintenance staff member at 9:30 a.m., just 15 minutes later.

The police used vehicle registration data and video footage from stores where the stolen credit card was used to identify Svenson as the suspect. Subsequently, Svenson was arrested on Wednesday, April 26, on charges of second-degree burglary, a Class 3 felony, and theft, a Class 5 felony. His bail was set at $25,000.

Canadian Spa Brands Merge - Hydropool + Sunrise

Mississauga-based company Hydropool has made a groundbreaking announcement in the Canadian hot tub and swim spa industry by merging with Sunrise Spas. This merger brings together the leadership, intellectual property, and industry experience of both companies, totaling almost a century, to enhance the efficiency of the production process for both manufacturers.

The primary objective of the merger is to strengthen both the Hydropool and Sunrise brands. By working closely together, the companies aim to build a strong future. The merger presents an exciting opportunity for all those involved in either company.

While the two manufacturers join forces, most aspects of their operations will remain unchanged. Retailers can expect to continue receiving the same high level of service and support they have been accustomed to.

Over the next year, there will be a gradual shift in Sunrise’s production and assembly from Grimsby, Ont. to Hydropool’s location in Mississauga. This transition will be carried out at a reasonable pace to minimize any disruption for retailers.

Throughout the merger, the Sunrise brand family will be maintained, with a focus on strengthening both brands without one overshadowing the other. Dealers will maintain their existing relationships with Sunrise Spas’ customer service, sales teams, and senior leadership. Parts will continue to be supplied directly by Sunrise, and the warranty service will also be handled by Sunrise.

The merger is seen as a change that makes sense for both companies, considering the current economic climate. By operating more efficiently and expanding manufacturing capabilities, both Hydropool and Sunrise will be better positioned for the future.
