Rarely, with the approval of the Executive Editor, will we consider removing erroneous content from our online platforms. However, we are committed to correcting errors and updating the record to provide accurate and up-to-date information.

When considering requests to remove accurate information from our public archives, we take into account not only the individual’s interest in suppressing the content but also the public’s right to access that information. Our decision-making process involves careful evaluation and requires the approval of the Executive Editor. While our general policy is to maintain published content in our archives, we strive to ensure accuracy, completeness, and currency. Therefore, we are committed to updating and correcting archived content as necessary, including headlines.

We recognize the importance of providing clarifications when a story, photograph, video, caption, editorial, or any other content creates a false impression of fact. Our commitment to accuracy and fairness extends to rectifying any misrepresentation promptly and clearly.

In the case of corrections or clarifications, we aim to strike a balance between providing necessary context and avoiding repetition. Our approach involves appending corrections or clarifications to the original online story and placing them consistently in our print publications.

If there is ever uncertainty about whether a correction, clarification, or the removal of a story or photo is necessary, our journalists are encouraged to consult with an editor for guidance and resolution.

Our journalists understand the importance of attribution and the avoidance of plagiarism. We prohibit the wholesale lifting of someone else’s work or the presentation of a press release as news without proper acknowledgment. Each journalist at Spa Magazine is responsible for their research and reporting. Inadvertently publishing the work of others without attribution does not excuse plagiarism. Any instance of plagiarism will be met with serious disciplinary action, including potential termination.

While we expect our journalists to be proactive in covering breaking news, it is essential to respect civil authorities and adhere to the law while on assignment. Under no circumstances should a journalist engage in illegal activities. If a journalist believes they have been unlawfully restricted from performing their duties, we expect them to remain calm and professional, promptly reporting the situation to a senior editor.
